Julius Berger awarded construction of Bodo-Bonny Road
The Federal Government, NLNG and Julius Berger Sign Tripartite Agreement for the construction of the Bodo-Bonny Road.
The Bodo-Bonny Road Project is a new 34km road in Nigeria’s River State, linking Bodo community in Gokana Local Government Area with Grand Bonny in Bonny Local Government hosts the NLNG complex. The road project will be counterpart funded by NLNG. This private-public partnership a huge milestone in advancing infrastructure development, especially in the Niger Delta. NLNG’s involvement in the project is significant as the largest single CSR initiative ever undertaken by a private company in Nigeria.
The new link connecting Bonny Island with Bodo will improve transport for this key industrial area of Nigeria. It will boost safe travels and socio-economic activities in the region and help to address the twin challenges of poverty and unemployment as well as improve the lives of people of the region and other communities in the Niger Delta.
Bonny Island is the location for major oil and gas facilities operated by Nigeria LNG as well as Agip, Chevron, Elf, Mobil and Shell. The new route will improve truck transport and reduce the current reliance on ferries.
