Julius Berger Distributes Life-saving Malaria Nets

As part of Julius Berger’s (JB) 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility program, the company is carrying out a malaria prevention campaign, which includes the distribution of long-lasting insecticide treated bed nets (LLINs) to communities across Nigeria.

Over 6,000 nets are being distributed to pregnant and nursing women, but also to students for them to take home to their families. In addition to the malaria net, beneficiaries are also given an information pamphlet explaining how to care for the net and most importantly, containing additional tips on how to help prevent malaria.

LLIN’s are a very effective means to prevent malaria infection because they create a protective barrier against mosquitoes at night, when the vast majority of transmissions occur.

Beneficiaries of the initiative are Primary Health Centers as well as Public Secondary Schools with a proven record of excellence and a strong focus on achieving progress.
