Women Will Remain Influential in Our Decision-Making Processes - Managing Director

On the 8th of March, female staff of leading engineering construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria Plcjoined the world to celebrate the International Women’s Day 2024. The activity which had the women all dressed in the signature white and blue colours was held across various sites of the company.

Addressing staff at the Head Office, the Director of Administration, Alhaji Dr Abdulaziz Kaita, who represented the Managing Director, Engr. Dr Lars Richter challenged the women on their respective leadership potentials saying, “the International Women’s Day 2024, is a Day that shines a spotlight on the achievements and ongoing challenges faced by women around the globe”, adding that, “we gather not just to celebrate but to reiterate our unwavering commitment to fostering an environment of inclusivity and equal participation within our organization.”

Stressing that inclusivity is not just a policy for Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the Director emphasised that, “it is the bedrock upon which our company’s values are built. We recognise that our strength lies in our diversity and the unique perspectives that everyone brings to the table. It is with this understanding that we pledge our continued dedication to ensuring that women are not only represented but are influential voices in our decision-making processes”, he said.

Referencing McKinsey, the Director said, “the American multinational company’s analysis has since found out that companies in the top level of gender diversity on executive teams were 25 percent more likely to have above-average profits than those which are not”, adding; “I’m sure one of you will one day reach top management position.”

The Managing Director’s representative mentioned Angela Merkel (former German Chancellor, who became one of the most powerful women in the world), Kamala Harris (the first female Vice President of the United States of America), Jacinda Ardern (the Prime Minister of New Zealand and the 14th Vice President of the Philippines), Maria Leonor (whose tenure garnered the highest audit rating from the country’s Commission on Audit for three consecutive years), to buttress the foregoing.

Among others present at the event was the Head, Human Resources, Mr. Olorunfemi Ojomo. The simultaneous celebration held in Region West, Region South-East, Region South-South and Region North Central as well as the Head Office.
