State of the art specialized hospital in Port Harcourt

Dr. Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Centre

Expected to evolve into a hub for medical tourism, the recently completed Dr. Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Port Harcourt, constructed by Julius Berger, stands as a purpose-built facility dedicated to cancer and cardiovascular disease treatment. It offers advanced healthcare services, including Chemotherapy and Nuclear Medicine.

Serving as the focal point for comprehensive chronic disease care, diagnosis and treatment within the region, the facility located in Rumuokwuta boasts 72 beds. This include a specialized 10-bed ICU/CCU patient accommodation ward, equipped with 4 critical care isolation cubicles tailored for immunocompromised patients.

Among its noteworthy features are a fully equipped pathology laboratory, a radiology department, two full-fledged operating theatres and a Cath lab, which is an examination room with diagnostic imaging equipment, facilitating the visualisation of arteries and heart chambers for the detection and management of cardiovascular ailments.

It also has a 13-chair chemotherapy department, complete with 4 exclusive VIP isolation cubicles. It houses 8 dedicated doctors’ consulting rooms for both inpatient and outpatient consultations, along with an outpatient department featuring 2 procedure rooms and 2 examination cubicles.

Julius Berger’s approach to designing the facility adhered to the “best practice” principle, guided by the South African R158 healthcare design guidelines. This meticulous planning ensures a distinct separation between patient and service flow, keeping the operational aspects discreetly tucked away. This design promotes a serene and therapeutic environment that contributes to patients’ recovery.

The three-storey building is also future-proofed for potential expansion in response to evolving technology and healthcare demands. Notably, it incorporate a helipad, facilitating emergency patient drop-offs.
