The Lagos Northwest Tower Project Team celebrated its one million-man hours without Lost Time Injury, LTI in two years, with the presentation of the corporate Bronze Helmet HSE Award by the management of Region West, RWE. The Award, a milestone on its own, signalled the efficient disposition of Julius Berger Nigeria workers on the project to time-honoured and tested Health, Safety and Environment demands.
According to the RWE HSE Manager, Solace Orlu, who formally introduced the event, the Award is a high-profile recognition of the collective commitment to safety on the LNW Project. In his own remarks at the celebration event, the Regional Technical Manager, Thomas Christl congratulated the LNW team for the achievement, which was only achievable as a result of workers compliance to safety rules. He encouraged the team to maintain the same level of commitment through to the end of the project, ensuring a smooth transition of workers to future projects.
The LNW Project Manager, Simon Taylor expressed his appreciation to the entire project team, including subcontractors, for their support in achieving the milestone, emphasising that it was achievable due to the commitment of looking after each other to ensure everyone returns home safe and sound, even as he added that there was always room for improvement.
The Project Manager, ABUMET, Adam Brodowski seized the opportunity to express his appreciation for the smooth running of HSE procedures and supervision for a successful completion of Unitized Curtain Wall installation on the LNW Tower building with a zero-injury record.
